Online Catalog Search for books & media (videos, CDs, etc.), check your library account, reserve or renew a book. You will need your library card number and a PIN to reserve a book. Unless you've changed it, the PIN is the last 4 digits of your phone number.

Informe This full-text periodical database contains popular Spanish and bi-lingual magazines. It is best searched in Spanish as well. Topics covered include business, health, technology, culture and other general subjects. (Supported by the NOVEL project.)
National Newspaper Index National Newspaper Index provides quick access to the indexing of America's top five newspapers in one seamless search: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post. (Supported by the NOVEL project.
New York State Newspapers Search this database of ten major newspapers published in the state of New York, including the New York Times and the New York Post. (Supported by the NOVEL project.)
Times Union Contains most locally written stories published since 1986. Headlines and summaries can be viewed for no charge. Your public library has a special arrangement with the Times Union to view full stories on-site in the library, though not from home or office. Please ask a librarian for assistance. This is the definitive online tool for home improvement assistance, including: maintenance, remodeling, electrical work, plumbing, wood projects, outdoor improvements, decorating home & garden, etc. This comprehensive resource contains 26 major reference works in full text with more than 10,000 images (none found available online anywhere else). Additionally, the database contains full-text magazines (e.g. This Old House).
Chilton Auto Repair Manuals

Provides exclusive photographs, diagnostics designed by instructors, step-by-step repair procedures, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) maintenance schedules, wiring diagrams, recalls and Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) for automobiles and light trucks in one easy-to-use web site.
Some databases are provided by the New York State Library. NOVEL is an online virtual library connecting New Yorkers to 21st century information via local libraries statewide. NOVEL is currently supported with temporary federal Library Services and Technology Act funds. New Century Libraries is an important statewide funding initiative currently before the Legislature that proposes permanent state funding for NOVEL.

Many of these databases are available to member libraries of the Upper Hudson Library System, through the generous support of its Central Library - the Albany Public Library.
